Who We Are
Good Counseling provides High Quality Counseling and Consulting Services as well as Mental Health Support Services to the Washington DC Metropolitan Area to include Maryland and Virginia.
Good Counseling provides an array of Mental Health Support Services to families and children. Our services are dynamic and evidence based, facilitated by one of our diversely qualified and experienced team members.
We provide High Quality Counseling Services with a focus on Mentoring which establishes a connection between young people and their families, school and community.

Mentoring is a powerful relationship that has the potential to change the course of a life. Good Counseling believes in the power of Mentoring, recognizing that not every person needs a therapeutic intervention. Today more than ever youth are in need of the proper guidance to become well balanced and equipped to handle the many challenges that the world will certainly create.

Our Therapeutic Mentoring services take the value of mentoring to an even more immersive level in which we are able to combine community activities with clinical strategies to get even more out of the clients we serve. Over the past three years we’ve seen a rapid increase of young people in need of clinical services. However traditional practices aren’t always the most effective in producing results.
With Therapeutic Mentoring were placing our clients in environments right in their perspective communities that allow for them to both value their community and discuss the best practices for them to develop strategies to address their needs.
Therapeutic Mentoring provides a proven evidence based practice in environments that clients are able to enjoy and experience all in one.
Studies have shown that clients within this demographic are more responsive with these techniques.

Good Counseling believes in the power of communication and reunification. As a result we offer supervised visitation between biological families and children. These visits provide support and coaching to families and children on best practices for healthy and appropriate engagement of family members.

Our Outpatient Services are provided by a Licensed Professional Counselor who is qualitied to provide mental health services to a wide range of prospective clients, to include children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with mental Illness.

With a rapidly approaching future we recognize that in order for the communities and families that we serve to be included, they must have the skills and access to resources needed to compete and excel.
Our STEM program is preparing to launch this Spring and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this amazing experience to students whom may benefit! Good Counseling has partnered with two premier professionals from the Computer Science and Computer Programming Community.
Over the Course of five weeks they will be providing an intimate experience with several entry level programs and coding skills. Some of the skills that will be taught will include, but will not be limited to:
Web Design
Coding
Software Development
Courses will be provided at one of our satellite locations with all equipment provided.

Good Counseling recognizes the tremendous value of investing in family. As a result, we are excited about the opportunity to provide direct support services to diverse families. Our parent skills classes seek to provide support for parents in efforts to create a more harmonious and functional relationship with their children. These classes are offered in both English and Spanish.

Good Counseling believes in the influence and the impact of engaged and intentional Fathers. Studies have shown that having a present father is essential and completely changes the outcomes and futures of their children.
As a result we’ve developed a program that is designed to effectively engage fathers and equip them to be passionate about their role.
Through this six week course we offer fathers several key components to improving their fathering capabilities. All the while preparing them to be effective in seeing the potential they posses as well as identifying practical principles that they can use to reach their children.

To empower youth, engaging them with educational resources through mentoring, counseling and supportive structures, allowing them to pursue purpose, discover truth and uncover their potential.

All of us have purpose and we really believe and embody that concept, that we weren't meant to just exist but to truly live with intentionality knowing that we are contributing to a greater mission of a connected community. Life becomes more enjoyable when you’re able to live with intention, doing things that you enjoy and love allows you to be fulfilled knowing that your efforts are going to a cause that's bigger than you. Imagine the power of knowing that you belong and that you’re good enough.

WHY MENTOR?
Years of research has proven the power and effectiveness of a mentor, specifically in areas such as education where as youth whom collaborate with a mentor early on see the benefits both immediately as well as in their future. Imagine the power that can be generated in a community that has a youth base being invested in through supplemental enriching conversation that propels them into a future confident.
With a mentor discover truth which allows youth to fulfill their purpose. With a mentor you can begin to make progress in developing a better understanding of the community around you, its resources, its potential and how you play a major part in helping to make it a more productive place.

We educate because knowledge changes generations of families and when families are educated, the communities that they are a part of are stronger, affluent and productive places for fulfillment to happen.

When a community is seen as a place to invest then it’s value is greater. Even better, when we see value in the place that we live then the natural response is to pour resources into it. Investing says that my community has potential and is great now but it can be even greater if we build resources for the future.
Communities that are invested in are cared for and protected from crime, given optimal schools where learning is embraced. Communities that are invested in contain citizens that take pride in their residence and look after their neighbor. At Good Counseling we see the potential in every community, that’s why we invest!

Founder | Chief Executive Officer
Andre is a Community Investor and Entrepreneur with a deeply invested interest in building affluent transcendent communities where families have both access to resources and opportunities to build generational equity but not just through the Avenue of finance, however through relational equity and applied knowledge and a foundational understanding of how communities work. He has worked in many different settings providing counseling to youth in juvenile detention centers, group home environments and in the community. Andre has worked with local government agencies providing mental health support services to a diverse population. Andre has also worked in the private sector for over 15 years working to provide community counseling services in school settings, in homes and local community centers. In each of these roles he has helped to shape and create researched based methods that are effective in aiding the clientele that he serves. Andre has done extensive work with youth and young adults whom have experienced trauma from many sources in their lives to include gang involvement, substance abuse, anger management and foster care children. Andre has an extensive work history that includes working with families aiding parents with developing the necessary skills to engage their children and improve their communication.

Alina Taylor serves as the Lead Therapist for Good Counseling. Alina is trilingual fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English bringing years of empiricism as a distinguished leader in the Mental Health field. She has experience working in a variety of settings including hospitals, home- based settings, schools and managed care. Alina specializes in treating individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma and co-occurring disorders. Alina has comprehensive experience working with children adolescents, young adults and adults dealing with many issues from trauma, school related concerns, family disfunction, mental health disorders, gang involved youth and victims of human trafficking. Alina has been a potent guide for those seeking to advance their skills and perform at more effective levels unlocking their potential and witnessing their contributions to a cause that affects the entire community.
